ACES is our latest WSN platform and is designed for on-the-fly deployment in industrial environments. ACES's unique attributes include context-aware middle ware that is assisted by hardware (see specification), low power operation, wireless network standard, and remote triggering.

Context-aware profile management
ACES utilizes location information to optimize its battery life-time, reporting frequency, sensing frequency, and its internal processing. In ACES, location nodes (black rectangles in the figure below) advertise location upon node entrance to a given zone and the node modify its properties according to our Smart Profiling Algorithms (SPA).

Zigbee based solution
ACES is based on Zigbee communication stack, a low-power wireless standard that can be easily installed and allowed to run on harvested energy or batteries for years. In addition, ACES nodes can can be arranged in many network topologies (e.g., star, mesh, and tree)

Ultra low power consumption
We modified the default Zigbee network stack to significantly reduce the energy consumption during network discovery and rejoining attempts. We utilize our benchmarking solution on Sprouts to effectively reduce power consumption by an order of magnitude when compared to the default settings of Zigbee stack.

Small footprint
ACES sensor nodes can fit in a rectangle with 42mm x 45mm x 4.5mm. This allow it to easily be integrated within half the area of a smart card.
